Why we start every product with SQLite

SQLite gets a bad rap, but it's the perfect database to launch a product. Here's why.

SQLite gets a bad rap, but it's the perfect database to launch a product. Here's why.

When you're starting a SaaS, the last thing you need is database ops. SQLite needs zero configuration, zero servers, and zero maintenance. It's a single file you can back up by copying. For a product like Retailer POS that starts with a handful of early customers, SQLite handles the load easily and lets us focus on the product, not the infrastructure. When (and only when) we outgrow it, migrating to PostgreSQL is a Prisma one-liner. Premature scaling is a startup killer, and SQLite keeps us honest.
